Artis as a Mermaid (or Catfish?)
in her shapeshifting journey to try out new forms, Artis decides to transform into something much more seasonal: for "mermay" Artis tries to turn into a mermaid and explore the magic of the ocean: but instead of transforming her upper half into a human like a typical mermaid would have, she leaves her top form in an original white cat form to see what she would actually look like as a mermaid. This makes her appearance very strange and more like a mercat/catmaid or maybe even a whole new sea creature (a 'catfish'?). While her appearance might be strange, she absolutely loves this mermaid version of herself and feels so stylish as a mermaid swimming in the sea.
This is my entry for both the Mermaid tutorial by Gretlusky and the feet or fins challenge. Since I made Artis the 'Muse' of all my tutorials/challenges I participate in. I was going to make her a mermaid as her next big transformation, however DeviantArt immediately issued a challenge along with the tutorial that sounded very interesting to me (you're killing me DeviantArt! ) Since I make art pretty slowly along with all the other things I have to do there was no way I could do both at the same time before the month ended, however I had a technicality: Since Artis's is an animal (a cat) and she was going to turn into a mermaid (a half fish half human) if she stayed part cat (on top) then she would be both a mermaid and a new animal in the sea (have a fin) in that way I did both the tutorial and challenge at the same time (and I looked at the rules for the feet or fins challenge just to make sure this was not against the rules and could not find anything on it so I assume it's okay to do this). Both the tutorial and challenge were fun to do at the same time, I even tried to combine both unique styles from the tutorial and challenge together to form a new style from both.
