Gabriel the soccer hero
Gabriel hit that soccer ball
He once hit it off the wall
He hit that ball up and down
He was hitting that ball all around
His team cheered “go Gabriel go!”
And Gabriel did not slow
Gabriel was heading towards that goal
And was going to give that kick his whole
He kicked that ball into the goal with a fierce might
And everyone cheered that was in sight
Gabriel was the heroic leader yet again
Even though he was only ten!
I wrote this poem originally to help, my then, little nephew named Gabriel with his E.L.A. project: he had to make up his own poem with (I think) an AABB rhyming scheme. He could not think of anything, so I decided to jump in and help him out by making sort of a funny ode to him about winning a soccer match (during this time he loved playing soccer: ironically this sounds a lot like a cheerleading chant), and so I eventually created this, I thought he would be impressed and use it for his project. But instead, he seemed uncaring and did not want to use my poem. I was a little disappointed after trying to help, but I had made a cute and funny poem that I kept for a while now.
